Front Page News

We were featured on the front page of our neighborhood newsletter in an article about the snowstorm that shut down the city for about five days. R had thrown out his back shoveling snow so I took both girls out so that Julia could do some sledding.

First Words!

Earlier this month, Annabelle debuted her first two words - it is unclear which came first. They are (drumroll, please)...."Uh-oh" and "Jakey." Yes, the baby said the dog's name before Mama or Papa. Recently, she has added "Pa-Pa" and "Bye-Bye." She had been saying these things along with "mamamamama," but it was unclear if she really associated them with their meanings. This morning, we walked into the room with R, and she said, "PaPa...PaPa." Tonight, when Christina was leaving, she said, "Bye-Bye!" about four times.

She's got 4 words!!

Snow in Atlanta

I assumed that when we moved to Atlanta, we would no longer need snow boots, snow pants, snow shovels, or sleds. Well, I was wrong. Julia had fun sledding at the bottom of the our driveway.

I had gotten my fill of snow last January and February during the blizzards in the DC area. I will say that being snowed in this time is much better, as I am not 8+ months pregnant!

Phone Conversation

Julia had a long conversation with someone on Grandma's wooden phone. Perhaps it was Kiki, the imaginary friend that she has started talking about.

Julia Says...

"Mommy, when I'm a grown up, I want to be a Mommy."

Me: "Julia, do you know loves you?"
Julia: "Mommy!"
Me: "Who else?"
Julia: "Papa!"
(We continued like this through all the significant people in Julia's life."
(Long pause.)
Julia: "I also love myself!!"

Grandma: "Julia, do you have any brothers?"
Julia: "I have a dog brother. His name is Jake."
